The Awards

The India Wine Awards are the country’s most prestigious wine competition committed to recognise, reward and celebrate India’s wine industry and the best in class domestic and international wines available in the country.

The competition results offer Indian consumers the ultimate guide to purchasing wine and winning brands an enviable advantage in the marketplace, whilst recognising the hard work and passion that goes behind creating a wine that consumers enjoy.

The India Wine Awards is built on the four pillars of integrity, authenticity, credibility and relevance and showcases 4 exciting facets, namely,

  • wine tasting competition,
  • excellence in restaurant wine program,
  • education summit & showcase,
  • winners’ night ceremony

Wine Tasting Competition

India Wine Awards organises the country’s largest blind-tasting competition of over 500 domestic and international wines by a panel of qualified judges including wine professionals, hospitality leaders, eminent influencers and tastemakers.

The wines are arranged in logical flights to allow for a fair assessment of its taste and quality. The judges are given no information about the producer, country or region of origin, grape variety or even price. Medals are awarded on the basis of a 100-point score in a process conducted as per global standards. Only the very best producers who create exceptional, high-quality wines are able to win a medal from IWA.

Sonal Holland MW is the Chairperson of the India Wine Awards who presides over the competition, setting the benchmark in excellence by helping judges calibrate their tasting and help resolve disputes over scores/ medals.

Education Summit and Showcase

India Wine Awards celebrations include an organised line-up of educational workshops, panel discussions and networking sessions that inspire and teach new skills. Our masterclasses are interactive, informative and conducted by Masters of Wine, leading international winemakers and celebrity producers. Our panel discussions are thought-provoking and promote a positive wine culture while developing India’s wine industry. And, our showcase features a tasting lounge of world-cuisine and award-winning wines poured generously to members of the community and the trade.
Our educational summit and showcase is the most sought-after event preluding the awards ceremony and is richly attended by members of hospitality, media, restaurateurs, influencers and wine clubs.

Winners’ Night Award Ceremony

The Oscars of India’s wine industry, the India Wine Awards Winners’ Night is a glittering awards ceremony and takes place immediately following the Education Summit & Showcase. Bringing over 500 members of the industry – leading wine producers, importers, connoisseurs and hospitality veterans together on the same platform, this event is the most anticipated F&B event of the year.
